Full transcript-  Senator Grayson

Madam Speaker, we've heard endless braying from the Republicans, time after time, demanding an extension of tax cuts for the rich in this country. They tell us that somehow extending tax cuts for the rich will somehow create jobs. When we've had tax cuts for the rich for nine years and I haven't noticed a lot of jobs being created in nine years.

They tell us it will boost the economy well I haven't noticed that happening for nine years either. So you have to wonder why they persist in this mania, this obsession of theirs that we need to have tax cuts for the rich when the economy is flat on its back and unemployment is almost 10%. I think I have the answer. The answer turns out to be very simple.

They want tax cuts for the rich because they want a tax cut for themselves. What do I mean by that? Let's take a look at the people who are really in charge, the ones who actually run the Republican party.

Let's start with this gentleman here, the man with the cigar, Rush Limbaugh. Doesn't he look happy? According according to Newsweek, he makes $58.7 million a year, and extending the tax cuts means he'll have another $2.7 million. Mega dittos, Rush, and mega money. Let's look at the next one.

Here's Glenn Beck, according to Newsweek Glenn Beck makes $33 million a year as a pundit and extending the Bush Tax Cuts means a cool $1.5 million for Glenn bBeck's ongoing imitation of Howard Beale from Network. Now let's look at the next one.

Sean Hannity. Newsweek says that Sean Hannity, this man of the people makes $22 million a year from his act on Fox. And that means the Bush Tax cuts mean an extra $1 million. $1 million for Sean Hannity. Maybe he can afford some anger management classes. Let's take a look at the next one.

Bill O'Reilly. He makes a modest $20 million a year from his gig on Fox. That means that the Bush tax cuts give him not quite seven figures, nearly $914,000 of extra cash. It's easy to see why Bill O'Reilly wants to see the Bush tax cuts extended. And I have to say, he's no pinhead when it comes to that.

And Now, Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin has made $14 million this year from cashing in on her fame. In fact, she's done a better job of turning fame into cash than anyone in American history. $14 million. So she wants the Bush tax cuts extended so she can make an extra cool $638,000. As she was -- as she would gesture (shoulder shrug.)

And now on to Newt Gingrich, the man who did such a great job of running America in the 1990's, he wants a second chance in this decade. Newt if you do to us now what you did to us then, we'll be in trouble. But Newt Gingrich makes $5 million a year from his punditry, he'll get an extra quarter million dollars a year. An extra quarter million dollars a year from the Bush tax cuts being extended.

Now let's go on to the big cheese. George W. Bush himself. The man who got us into two endless war. The man who brought us to the brink of national bankruptcy. The man who gave us $4 a gallon gasoline. George W. Bush makes a cull $4.2 million a year, according to Newsweek. That means that extending the bush tax cuts for George Bush means an extra $187,000 in his pockets every single year.

I have a better idea. Instead of placating these people and letting them spew out onto the airwaves their lies about the Bush tax cut ever revealing the fact that they stand to gain millions, millions of dollars each year from their selfish desire to take advantage of the rest of America, let's do this. Let's take that money and create jobs.

All that money that the Bush tax cuts are charging us that can create jobs for three million Americans a year. $30,000 job a fair wage for fair work, a dignified wage for dignified work and a way to -- a dignified wage for dignified work and a way to help our economy, a better idea than putting money in the pocks of the rich. The problem is not that the poor have too much money, that's not the problem at all, it's that they need jobs. Thank you.

I am Everyman 4:49 pm

Employers are focused on burying employees in unethical amounts of work while simultaneously, unrelentingly, psychologically assaulting them. Beyond the compensation annihilating agendas and propaganda regarding the “need” for outsourcing that has been crammed down the throat of Americans by gargantuan corporations and funded with billions of lobbying dollars and purchased politicians, by the senior management of those corporations, another coup has been successfully waged by corporations and against workers. The results are real devastation. The continued level of unemployment is wholly due to the gargantuan, unmitigated greed of senior corporate management and the relentless top-down pressure that they are using to create an environment of duress and fear of loss of employment for tens of millions of people who are currently doing the work of two or more employees. Simultaneously they are making hundreds to thousands of times the annual compensation of the average employee salary.
The lust for power and profit of senior corporate management is so insatiable that even with record profits and cash flows, rather than hire sufficient employees and compensate them properly they employ psychological tactics to destroy their dignity and sense of security and force them to do unethical amounts of work. Unemployment and personal risk is high, quality, high-paying jobs are almost nonexistent and real income and quality of life have steadily declined since the late 1960s because these bloated, grotesque conglomerates have destroyed the dignity of and coerced employees into doing the work of two or more.
The last few years of congressional fast-track and legalization of the THEFT of the dignity, privacy and TRILLIONS of dollars worth of the investments, retirement savings and wealth of “average citizens” and the steady decline in real income and quality of life, since the late 1960s, is unquestionably clear evidence of this high-level agenda and a page from the book of feudalism. Today, the masses of the world are once again in a feudalistic state of existence; controlled and subjugated under the relentless environment of military duress, fear of loss of employment, lack of hope for the future and continued assault on personal dignity and privacy.
If the government and the “supreme” court were not corrupt and had any real power, these institutions, that are supposed to protect us, would execute their charter, stop the formation of any additional giant conglomerates and monopolies and begin dismantling existing giant conglomerates and monopolies; instead, far beyond any reasonable economy of scale, they continually allow the formation of such globally devastating entities. The result is the control of power by those with the most greed and least morality; those able and willing to control the media and subjugate and murder people for money and rape and pillage our people and natural resources for power and obscene profit.
We may be past the point of no return, but we need to remove politicians who jump into the pockets of banks, corporations and the industrial military complex and try to elect politicians into office who will pass simple laws that will begin to protect workers; laws like the following:
LAW #1, the “exempt” employee status must be eliminated and made irrevocably illegal, without possibility of exception, substitution or waiver; if an employee works for an hour, they receive pay AND BENEFITS for that hour, up to 40 hours per week and 1.5 times their regular pay AND BENEFITS for all hours beyond 40 hours per week. All hours worked must be recorded and it is illegal for any company entity to directly or indirectly, in a written or unwritten manner, policy or practice exert any influence on any employee to record anything except the total number of hours worked.
Since companies and corporations do not currently compensate “exempt” employees for the BILLIONS of hours of overtime they collectively work each year, this will result in the rapid creation of TENS of MILLIONS of American jobs.
LAW #2, without exception and regardless of reason, all corporations that outsource jobs must pay additional taxes to the federal government equal to the total aggregate salary of all outsourced jobs.
This will crush the profit driven practice and propaganda of corporate outsourcing, which has never been anything more than corporate strategy and tactics focused on the reduction and stagnation of the salaries of American workers in order to increase market domination and profits. This would directly facilitate the rapid creation of TENS of MILLIONS of American jobs FOR Americans.
LAW #3, all lobbyists must be immediately removed from Washington, D.C. and lobbying any government entity anywhere must be made illegal with a mandatory, unavoidable five year prison sentence and a fine equal to 50% of the lobbying entity’s total financial value with 10% of that fine awarded to the entity that notifies the FBI of the illegal lobbying activity.
This will ensure that the actual will of the American people is represented by the public servants that we have elected to serve us.
Etc.
Congressional Reform Act of 2010
Posted by Locreo, 29 October 2010, MSNBC, Public discussion 705
1. Term Limits.
12 years only, one of the possible options below..
A . Two Six-year Senate terms
B. Six Two-year House terms
C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms
2. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.
3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.
4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
8. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/11.
The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(S), then go home and work.
